Windows 7 - Should you upgrade ?

Microsoft announces the release of Windows 7 this week….should you upgrade?

Despite the release of Windows Vista almost two years ago the majority of businesses have continued to run windows XP.
PC manufacturers were shipping Vista machines along with XP downgrade options which did not say much about Vista.

Should I upgrade from XP to Windows 7 on the same hardware?

windows7The short answer here is no, we would not recommend you upgrade from XP to windows 7 on the same hardware.
Should you decide that you want to retain your existing PC’s and upgrade to Windows 7 anyway, the upgrade will mean wiping the PC completely and installing Windows 7.
Such an upgrade will result in unnecessary costs and result
in a poor investment when all things are considered.
Vista users can upgrade much more easily, but windows 7 offers
little incentive to do so in terms of additional features.

How should we upgrade to Windows 7

If you want to introduce Windows 7 into your organisation we recommend that you consider replacing your existing PC’s which will start to ship with windows 7 preinstalled. Naturally the age and state of your existing PC’s will determine when you should make this investment.

You will not only benefit from Windows 7 you will also benefit from new and improved hardware covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. It is important to consider your existing applications when making this investment and any application upgrades costs need to be factored in.
